Making
a name for themselves is what drivers across the country want to do and that is what Corey Agee is doing right now, tackling
the short track world in the NASCAR Whelen All - American Series.
Corey
is a 2nd generation driver from Ridgeway, VA. who grew up in racing and has been involved in racing his whole life. When most
kids were spending their childhoods on a baseball or football field, Corey was spending his in the family race
shop or at a race track. Corey knew at a very young age what he wanted to do with his life and that was to drive race
cars. So when Corey turned 15 the family thought it was time to put him in a race car and get his racing career started
and continue the family tradition.
Corey got his career started in 1999 at
Franklin Co. Speedway in the Mini-Stock division and finished 8th in his very first race. At the end of Corey's first
year driving a race car he had two feature wins, 7th place in points and won Rookie of the Year. In his second year of driving, Corey
started racing at Ace Speedway in the Mini-Stock division, the track where his family has been racing at since 1993.
Corey got his first NASCAR Whelen All - American Series feature win in 2001, in the Mini-Stock division. Then in 2002 Corey
moved up to the Open-Wheel Modified division at Ace Speedway, the division that Corey and his family is well-
known for. In 2004, Vintage racing caught Corey's attention. Having the opportunity to race their NASCAR Tour Modified
chassis and NASCAR Late Model Stock chassis with vintage bodies and motors with over 700 horsepower, was something the
young driver did not want to pass up. The Vintage racing divisions have definitely paid off for Corey now having won 12 feature
races and three straight track championships within a four year span. 2010 looks very promising for the 26 year old as he
goes for his fourth straight track championship and many more feature wins.
